Supergirl has confirmed who'll be playing its transgender superhero Dreamer.

She joins April Parker Jones, who will play Colonel Haley, and David Ajala, who will play Manchester Black.

Nia is described by The CW as "a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others", whose journey to become Dreamer will mirror how Kara became Supergirl.

Meanwhile Colonel Haley "lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers" and Manchester Black is "the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner".

Previously announced to join the show as regulars are Jesse Rath as Legion of Super Heroes' Brainiac-5 and Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty.

Meanwhile, the show has lost Jeremy Jordan as a series regular for its fourth season.

The Winn Schott star, who has been on Supergirl since its premiere, will return for the next season, but only in a recurring role.

Season four of Supergirl begins on October 14, 2018 in a new timeslot of Sunday 8/7c on The CW.

Supergirl airs on The CW in the US. The show airs on Sky One and Now TV in the UK.
