Walker: Independence spoilers for episode 12 'How We Got Here' follow.

Jared Padalecki's cameo in Walker spin-off series Walker: Independence has been unveiled in the show's latest episode.

The actor appears in the main series as Cordell Walker, with the spin-off taking events back to the 1800s and focusing on Abby Walker (Katherine McNamara) and Hoyt Rawlins (Matt Barr).

Despite the main show being set in the modern day, Padalecki popped up in this week's episode 'How We Got Here' in a scene with Rawlins.

Padalecki's ambiguous character cracks a joke: "What did the three-legged dog say when he went into the saloon? ... I’m lookin’ for the man who shot my paw!”

While there is chat of partnering up to rob a train, the two eventually come to draw against each other, with Rawlins proving victorious in the traded gunfire.

The cameo doesn't come as a surprise given Padalecki is an executive producer on the spin-off, and the star teased last year that he may pop up in front of the camera.

"It’s totally something we’ve talked about and thought about since day 1 of the conception of Walker: Independence," he told TVLine.

"Whether it’s a flashback on Walker or a flash-forward on Walker: Independence, or whether they can dress me up enough to let me exist in Independence, just not as Cordell Walker.

"I see a bunch of fun ways to kind of integrate the two, and keep that Walker-verse thriving and throw in Easter eggs...

"I refuse to let Walker: Independence carry on without me being on screen in 19th century Texas in some way, shape, or form."

Walker: Independence season 1 airs on The CW in the US. A release date or broadcaster for the United Kingdom is not known at the current time.
