Susanna Reid turned down a cameo in Love Actually sequel because of Piers Morgan

They appear to have a love-hate relationship on screen – but Susanna Reid proved her soft spot for co-host Piers Morgan is certainly getting stronger after she turned down a role in the Love Actually sequel because of him.

The Good Morning Britain host confessed that she rejected an offer of a cameo in the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2003 film because it made fun of her pal, Piers.

In the sketch for Comic Relief, which aired last Friday, a gag was made about the controversial journalist ‘still being alive’ – but that was enough for Susanna to show her solidarity to Piers.

While he may still get on her nerves, she said that wasn’t enough to justify poking fun at him.

‘I enjoy how viewers react to my relationship with Piers on the sofa,’ she told the Daily Mirror.

‘It’s evolving – like any good TV ‘marriage.

‘He winds me up no end, but I also like him. It’s an impossible-to-predict recipe of mutual respect, irritation, frustration & admiration but it works.’

Despite turning down the Love Actually gig, Susanna did still take part in the Comic Relief fundraiser on BBC One, but was overshadowed by a crude joke made by Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer.

Viewers were left disgusted when Vic flashed a fake penis pre-watershed during a segment which saw him and his comedy partner interviewing Susanna.

We’re guessing she won’t forget that in a hurry.
