Teesside Tesla driver involved in fatal double decker bus crash which claims life of 31-year-old

A Teesside Tesla driver was involved in a fatal double decker bus crash in York - which claimed the life of one man and left five others injured.

The tragic incident happened on the B1224 Wetherby Road when a white Tesla Model 3 and a blue and white double decker bus were in collision near the A1237 junction around 9.20am on Saturday, June 29.

A 31 year old man, from Newcastle, who was a passenger in the Tesla was declared dead at the scene, with his family now being supported by police officers. The Tesla's driver, a 32-year-old man from Teesside, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. Three additional passengers in the Tesla and the bus driver received treatment for minor injuries.

Following the incident, the B1224 was closed for investigation but reopened at 5.25pm. North Yorkshire Police is now seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash, reports Yorkshire Live.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Witnesses to the collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage are urged to come forward without delay if they have not done so already."

They added: "We also want to hear from anyone who recalls seeing either the white Tesla car or the blue and white double decker bus in the lead up to the incident.
