Terry Gilliam’s Don Quixote has been delayed for the millionth time

It’s official - Terry Gilliam is the unluckiest filmmaker in the world.

‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ - the long-beleaguered passion project from ‘Monty Python’ alumni Terry Gilliam - has hit yet-another stumbling block. Due to begin filming today, it looks as though it’s not quite gone to plan.

“I had this producer, a Portuguese chap, who claimed he’d get all the money together in time,” Gilliam explained to the BBC. “And a few weeks ago, he proved that he didn’t have the money.”

He added that the film is still “marching forward” and that ‘Don Quixote’ isn’t dead.

“I will be dead before the film is,” he joked.

But after this ridiculous run of bad luck, I wouldn’t risk tempting fate.

An early version of the project was supposed to star Johnny Depp as the titular Don Quixote. That version had already begun shooting before natural and financial disasters forced Gilliam to halt production in its tracks.

But that’s not the only problem they’ve faced - ‘Don Quixote’ has stalled a total of seven times since its inception. That’s seven failed attempts to make the same movies. You’d think perhaps Gilliam would take a hint?

Adam Driver, Michael Palin and Olga Kurylenko are reportedly still aboard the project… but with production stalling yet again, it remains to be seen whether the entire cast will still be on board by the time the cameras start rolling again.

‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ heads to cinemas at some point… possibly.
