Thandie Newton says that she and Zoe Saldana look so alike that Victoria Beckham once made the "mortifying" mistake of confusing the two in LA recently.

The Westworld star appears on The Graham Norton Show tonight, during which she recalls how the fashion designer - who she's met a few times before - mistook her for Saldana after a SoulCycle workout.

"It's Zoe Saldana [I most look like]," Newton told presenter Norton. "Recently, I was in SoulCycle in LA and Victoria Beckham who I have actually met a few times was there.

"We were chatting away when she said, 'It's so great that you are here when you are pregnant.' I said, 'I actually had my baby a couple of months ago.'"

Newton had to point out the confusion in the end, recounting: "We carried on chatting and it was obvious she thought I was someone else so I said, 'Do you think I am Zoe Saldana?'

"Victoria was absolutely mortified! It was actually okay as Zoe is a rare beauty, but really? Up close? Come on! And, I am British!"

Meanwhile, Newton recently reprised her role as Maeve Millay in season two of HBO's Westworld, which involves her being "naked for 75%" of the time".

Although it was a frightening prospect at first, the 45-year-old actress added: "The idea of being naked for 75% of the time on paper sounds like a nightmare, but I was all in and couldn't wait!"

The Line of Duty star also revealed that she's "excited" rather than concerned that her 12-year-old daughter is following in her acting footsteps, because she can protect and advise her.

"No, [I'm not worred] 'cos she's got me!" Newton explained. "I think it is wonderful and I am so excited for her."

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.
