The X Factor 2016: Runner-up Saara Aalto in talks to sign a record deal

This year’s X Factor runner-up Saara Aalto has put her wedding plans with fiancée Meri Sopanen on hold in a bid to secure her dream record contract and establish herself as an artist in the music industry.

Finnish contestant Saara claimed second place to Matt Terry, who triumphed at Wembley Arena on Sunday night, with just 8% separating the powerhouse performers in the final round of voting.

Nicole Scherzinger’s Matt, who clinched the vote during the incredibly tense live final, has already released his debut winner’s single, When Christmas Comes Around, written by Ed Sheeran.

But all is not lost for Saara, who has revealed that her wedding plans have been temporarily bumped from her schedule in replace of meetings with industry bosses, as talks of a record contract are underway.

The 29-year-old singer explained to The Sun: “[The wedding] is somewhere in the future not right now, we have some other things to do first…

“I’ve had so many meetings but it’s only been two days so it’s all very confusing at the moment but we’ve had very good meetings and very good plans.”

Whilst the outlook is certainly promising, Saara did admit that the process might have to be resumed in the New Year, given the timing of her exit from the talent show competition.

“Honey G went from the competition a few weeks ago so they had time to do that and it’s only been two days for me,” she explained of the North Weezy rapper, who has already secured a deal, adding: “It takes time. After New Year we can see.”
