'There's a woman's code': Mel B blasts Lady Gaga over Oscars performance

Did Lady Gaga’s and Bradley Cooper’s sensual Oscars performance cross a line? Mel B seems to think so.

The rumour mill has been desperate for the leads of ‘A Star is Born’ to become an item (particularly when Gaga broke off her engagement with Christian Carino last week), despite Cooper being in a committed relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk. The couple also have a two-year-old daughter.

But if the duo wanted to dampen the gossip, then their Oscars performance won’t have helped.

Singing A Star is Born’s Oscar winning song ‘Shallow’ at the 91st Academy Awards, the pair’s chemistry was apparent for all to see, prompting Good Morning Britain Oscars panelist Mel B and host Piers Morgan to question whether they’d gone too far.

“I felt so uncomfortable for Bradley’s girlfriend! Oh my gosh!” Mel B said.

“It was the look of love wasn’t it?” added Morgan.

“It really was! And that’s the whole gossip! That’s the whole thing!” Mel B cringed.

“The model or the singer?” joked fellow panelist Vinnie Jones.

“Stop it!” replied Mel B.

“Lady GaGa has taken her engagement ring off, she’s just broken up from her fiancé. If you put the maths together – she’s taken the engagement ring off and is staring at Bradley Cooper in a way that I would say crosses a few lines!” Morgan continued to speculate.

“I would just like to think that was part…of the song…because there’s a woman’s code…and that’s just not..hopefully it’s only professional” said Mel B.

During the Oscars ceremony, Shayk sat between Gaga and Cooper, but was also seen giving a standing ovation after their performance. She proceeded to kiss Cooper as he exited the stage and hugged Gaga.
