Theresa May 'banged her head against her desk' when asked about Brexit, MP claims

Theresa May rolled her eyes and banged her head against her desk when she was asked about changes to her Brexit deal, an MP has claimed.

Rupa Huq, Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton, made the revelation during a Sky News interview with Adam Boulton.

Ms Huq, who had requested the meeting in the run up to the meaningful vote on Mrs May’s deal, described the 30-minute meeting as ‘convivial’.

She said: “It was a bit like the exchanges we have in the House but a bit more friendly.

“The first question I asked her was ‘what red lines have you changed Prime Minister?’

“She kind of raised her eyes to the heavens, she did that and then she banged her head against the desk.”

She added: “I’ve never seen that before.

Mrs May has been granted until October 31 to secure agreement to a Brexit deal after the EU granted an extension to Article 50.

At present Conservatives and Labour representatives are in talks to try to agree a compromise, as the parties prepare for local and European elections.
