Thieves return stolen toy and buggy belonging to bereaved parents of deceased baby

A toy and a buggy stolen from grieving parents whose baby son died have been returned.

They were among a number of items left outside a police station following an appeal.

A red toy dinosaur, a buggy, a mirror and two car seats were inside a black Ford Fiesta that was stolen from Mead Road in Dartford, Kent, on Wednesday.

However, a blanket that was used to wrap the baby has not been returned.

The returned items were left outside North Kent Police Station at about 6.15pm on Sunday.

Kent Police are appealing for information about the theft.

The Fiesta’s licence plate begins with ‘X389’, but it may have been removed.

The car had been undergoing some repairs and still has a bonnet which will not close properly.

The baby’s father, who does not want to be identified, told the BBC that the stolen blanket was of great sentimental value to the family.

‘I don’t understand why they would choose to return everything else and keep the blanket,’ he said.

‘There is no reason for the blanket not to be returned.’

He said the theft was ‘soul destroying’.

Police are trying to find out who left the stolen items outside the station.
