An earless cat has given a new lease of life to its owner after helping her cope with anxiety.

White cat Otitis lost his hearing because of large cysts in his ears, which eventually had to be removed.

The nine-year-old kitty’s previous owners couldn’t afford to treat him so gave him to a cat rescue group in Baltimore.

And then he was found by student Molly Lichtenwalner, who was suffering from anxiety in the wake of a car accident.

She grew up on a farm and used to have a deaf pup, so thought she and Otitis would make the perfect match.

And so it has proved.

While Molly showers Otitis with love and affection, he gives her emotional support in return.

“I was having severe anxiety as a result of a car accident,” she told Love Meow.

“I decided it was time for me to adopt an animal to help with my anxiety, because nothing helped me more than snuggling some furry friends.

“I told myself that when I was ready for a cat, I would only adopt an adult cat with special needs (the ones that are so much harder to get adopted).

“When Otitis popped up, I knew he was the one.”

She said she was the first person to apply to adopt him. Her adventures with Otitis can be followed on Instagram.

“He is my emotional support animal and always snuggles me at night and when I’m very stressed or having a panic attack,” said Molly.

“He is sometimes the only thing that can calm me down at times.

“He’s the best thing I ever did and he definitely rescued me, I didn’t rescue him.”
