Thousands of customers complain to Tesco over wrapping paper that is 'too glittery'

In case you wondered, there is such a thing as too much glitter.

That’s the verdict of thousands of Tesco shoppers who have taken to social media to complain about the supermarket giant’s glitter-covered wrapping paper.

According to disgruntled shoppers the paper not only created a huge mess in their homes, leaving a trail of glitter in its wake, but also made wrapping presents virtually impossible because it wouldn’t stick.

The £2 rolls of paper featured a reindeer or holly design, but wasn’t quite the hit with Christmas customers that Tesco might have hoped.

Shoppers took to Twitter and Facebook to complain about the glitter, with many posting pictures of their failed efforts to seal their gifts with sellotape.

Others showed the mess left behind by the glitter, commenting on the number of times they had had to try to clean it up.

But there were some customers who said they didn’t have a problem with the glitter and had loved their sparkly paper.

Tesco has reportedly acknowledged that there is a thing as “too much glitter” and apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.

The row comes after it emerged that millions of tons of wrapping paper and Christmas cards will be dumped in landfill because paper mills can’t process things like glitter and metallic finishes.
