Strictly Come Dancing contestant Tilly Ramsay has hit back at LBC DJ Steve Allen after he called her "chubby" on his radio show.
The 19-year-old daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay – who is competing in the BBC celebrity dance contest this year – said she refuses to tolerate "people who think it's okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone's weight and appearance".
Ramsay, who has starred in her own cooking show for CBBC, wrote on Instagram: "I try not to read and listen to comments about negativity however recently being called out on a national radio station by a 67-year-old man is a step too far.
"Steve – please feel free [to] voice your opinions, however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance.
"It's such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.
"This isn't the first and definitely won't be the last comment made about my appearance and I accept myself. But please remember that words can hurt and at the end of the day I am only 19 and I'm so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have been able to take part in and I understand that being in the public eye obviously comes with it's won repercussions and I've been aware of this from a young age.
"However, I won't tolerate people who think it's okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone's weight and appearance."
She added the hashtag #bekind .
Ramsay shared a clip from Allen's early morning radio show in which he said of her appearance on Strictly: "She can't bloomin' well dance, I'm bored with her already.
"She's a chubby little thing isn't she, have you noticed? Probably her dad's cooking I should imagine."
Yahoo UK has contacted Steve Allen and LBC for comment.
Fellow Strictly contestant John Whaite was among those to share their support online.
The former Great British Bake Off winner commented: "He's a piece of old sandpaper love, worn and used and has nothing to offer the world. And his vicious scratching has only left you polished and more fabulous. Love you."
Strictly dancer Oti Mabuse wrote: "What on earth? Love you @tillyramsay some people just have no regard for others."
First Dates star Fred Sirieix, who presents an ITV show with Gordon Ramsay said: "What an idiot he is Tilly! His type are and will always be around. Let them talk and keep dancing."
And Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian Hurley posted: "What a total w**ker. Bloody uncalled for. Can’t wait for you to have the last laugh and keep winning. Sending you love."
Strictly: It Takes Two presenter Janette Manrara commented: "#BeKind…. How fast we forget what hurtful comments can do for someone’s mental health. You are a POWERFUL young lady! Wear your crown w/ your head held high."
And dancer Giovanni Pernice said: "Some people are very nasty !! Don’t listen to this c**p .. We love You girl!"
