Tinie Tempah turns property guru for 'Extraordinary Extensions' – 9 other unusual celebrity career pivots

Property shows are not exactly unusual on Channel 4, but the newest version has a fresh twist as it sees Tinie Tempah turn property expert and host.

Extraordinary Extensions is fronted by the multi-award winning rapper, who also has an extensive property portfolio and plenty of experience of the challenges that home building work can bring.

He said: "I've always been really into architecture and design and have been lucky to witness and be a part of some amazing projects. I can't wait to see how these ambitious homeowners give their properties a 21st century shake up with the most extraordinary extensions."

The show will see Tinie Tempah follow people looking to breathe new life into their homes by taking on some incredible designs full of pitfalls and triumphs.

As the rapper begins to give Kirsty and Phil a run for their money, we look at some more unlikely celebrity career changes.

Lisa Faulkner

Celebrity MasterChef often surprises as its famous contestants reveal their hidden culinary skills, but none more so than Lisa Faulkner.

The former Holby City star won the show and turned out to be so good at cooking, she launched a new career for herself publishing cookbooks and presenting cooking shows.

She tried out a number of second careers, including hypnotherapy and car mechanics, but eventually settled on cooking after training at the prestigious Leith's School of Food and Wine.

Pascale decided to specialise in baking and has opened her own cupcake shop, had a contract supplying Christmas cakes to Selfridges, and has starred in many a TV baking show as well as publishing her own recipe books.

Vinnie Jones

Vinnie Jones first found fame as a Premier League and international footballer, but with his playing career long behind him, he's now known for something very different.

He has since enjoyed a very successful pivot into acting, with film credits including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Mean Machine, Swordfish, Gone in 60 Seconds, X Men: The Last Stand, and a voice role in Madagascar 3.

Jones' TV work has included Arrow, Deception, Galavant and Elementary.

Meghan Markle

She was one of the key characters in US legal drama Suits, but Meghan Markle's most famous role took her in a completely different direction.

In 2018, she joined the Royal Family when she married Prince Harry and the couple now have two children together.

However, since Meghan and Harry quit royal duties for a new life in the US, TV appearances have been back on the cards with a hand in her husband's documentary work, and of course that famous Oprah Winfrey interview.

Victoria Beckham

When we first got to know Victoria Beckham (then Adams) as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, no-one could have predicted that the famously unsmiling singer would go on to become one of the world's most famous women.

Since marrying David Beckham, the couple have worked hard on building their brand as a couple, and Victoria is now best known as a successful and respected fashion designer.

Carol Vorderman

Maths whizz Carol Vorderman certainly didn't fade into obscurity when she left her long-running Countdown role, continuing with plenty of presenting work.

Vorderman is always up for a new challenge and never confines herself to just one line of work, though – she learned to fly planes and now has a private pilot's licence with the aim of flying solo around the world.

She is also the first woman to have been appointed ambassador of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

Professor Brian Cox

Not many former 90s pop stars have managed the epic career pivot that Brian Cox made after his first days of fame as the keyboard player in D:Ream ended.

Looking ahead to life after the charts, Cox had been studying physics at university while working as a musician and now works as a particle physicist at the University of Manchester.

Not only is he respected in the world of academia, he is also a popular broadcaster on TV science shows including Wonders of the Universe, The Sky at Night, and Horizon.

Reverend Richard Coles

Cox and Beckham aren't the only former pop stars to have taken a different path after leaving the music studio behind.

Reverend Richard Coles' first career was as a musician in Bronski Beat and The Communards, both with Jimmy Somerville.

He has since worked as a journalist and then went on to become ordained in the Church of England, making regular TV appearances including as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
