Tom Daley Opens Up About Coming Out And His Relationship With Dustin Lance Black <3

Wet ‘n’ wild diving sensation Tom Daley has been well busy this weekend, opening up about all sorts of dead emotional stuff like coming out and how friggin’ loved-up he is with his boyfriend, Dustin Lance Black.

All very heart-warming, we’re sure you’ll agree – but sadly no word as of yet on whether or not the iconic 'Splash!’ will finally get recommissioned by ITV…

Sitting down with those fancy-pants types at The Guardian, Tom said he was 'terrified’ before he posted his famous coming out video, but in the end it felt like a ’ a massive weight lifted off my shoulders’:

“It was more a case of, ‘Oh screw it. I don’t care what people think. I’ll do my own thing. I can still dive, I can still do what I want to do.’ Then I was thinking I could do a newspaper interview, but you wouldn’t want somebody to twist your words. You could do a TV interview, but you don’t want to be asked questions you don’t want to answer. So I just said exactly what I was comfortable with saying at the time. And nothing could be twisted.”

“It was a massive weight lifted off my shoulders. I was terrified before. And then when it finally happened I was like, great, I don’t need to worry about it any more, people know, who cares, whatever…”

He also revealed that his Hollywood boyfriend Dustin never pressured him into it either: “Yes, he was supportive, but it never got to a point where he said, ‘You should do something about coming out.’ He was just always there, supportive. At no point was he at all pushy.”

What a babe, eh?

And speaking of babes, the Olympian also admitted that he’s already started thinking about having kids – and thinks that he’ll end up playing bad cop most of the time:

“[Dustin’s] very strict at his work, but people he loves, he finds it very difficult to say anything. He wouldn’t be able to shout at the kids or tell them off.”

“I’d like to think I would be fun, but also try to teach them all the lessons they need to learn, that you don’t get anything without hard work – I’d like to pass on the lessons I had in my childhood.”

“It could be in a year, five years, 10 years. I’ve always loved the thought of having kids… Ideally I’d like to have one of each.”
