Top Boy's Ronan Bennett confirms spin-off talks with Netflix
Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett has confirmed he's in talks with Netflix over a potential spin-off series.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5's Nihal Arthanayake, Bennett said the spin-off would focus on Jasmine Jobson's character Jaq Lawrence.
Bennett said (via Deadline): "We are talking to Netflix about a spin-off, which will be around Jaq."
Adding that Netflix will "probably be angry" with him for mentioning it, Bennett continued: "I've learned through bitter experience not to talk too much about shows that are in the future. You just never know if they're going to get made and in fact, most shows that are developed actually don't get made.

"You can write the script and, for whatever reason, they don't get made. So you end up looking like a bit of a fool for mentioning it. But I have hopes that this will work."
Bennett added that he's had other conversations regarding a Top Boy prequel, movie or stage musical but these are all in the very early stages of discussion.
"I think that the world of Top Boy, the world that we jointly created, is so rich, it's so deep, and it has that fanatical following that it's something that still has life in it," he added. "Some shows reach their end, and you kind of go: 'Thank god they've ended, I love that show, but they've run out of steam'. But I do feel that there's more juice to squeeze from Top Boy."

Meanwhile, following Top Boy's season five finale, Jobson weighed in on rumours that her character Jaq was the mysterious figure who killed Sully (Kane Robinson).
Speaking about the online conspiracy theories, Jobson said: "I can't tell you that. I have no idea. Everybody's asking. I'm hearing so many conspiracy theories. I like hearing everything, but I've no idea."
All episodes of Top Boy season 5 are available to stream on Netflix.
