Top Gear: Matt Le Blanc Left 'Shaken' After 'Almost Running Over Cameraman'

Eek, it sounds like things nearly went from bad to worse for the new Top Gear cast and crew, with it being claimed that new presenter Matt Le Blanc was left “shaken” after he nearly ran over one of the cameramen.

Things just aren’t going great for the reboot, are they?

According to reports, the former ‘Friends’ star jumped into a Porsche to take the car for a ride during a break, but didn’t realise that a member of the crew was lying on the ground filming.

Thankfully another cameraman spotted what was about to happen and began waving and shouting, stopping Matt from driving off and, consequently, hitting the unsuspecting man.

A show insider told The Mirror: “In between filming, Matt got into a Porsche they’d been road-testing, turned on the ignition and was about to take it for a drive.

"But he was completely unaware one of the cameramen was lying down alongside it at ground level, filming low shots.

"The crew member was completely oblivious Matt was about to speed off too, – but a tracking cameraman, who was sat in the distance, could see what was about to happen and started waving and screaming at Matt to stop.

"Matt was a bit confused but got out of the car. When he realised he could have run the man over he was noticeably shaken up. He said he needed a bit of time out.

"He reappeared a few hours later, wanting to know that the cameraman was OK – which he was. He said, 'Where’s that guy I nearly ran over?’

"It was one of those instances where, if the tracking man and Matt had reacted even a few seconds later, it could have been really serious. Both of them appreciated what a lucky escape it was.”

Well, all we have to say is thank goodness for the tracking cameraman….

It is thought that the incident happened when the 48-year-old was filming in South Africa, and comes following a whole string of other controversies that have left Top Gear fans wondering if the show is doomed to failure when it returns to BBC2 next month.
