Town centre park event showing solidarity with Palestine

An event is being held in a town centre park as a show of solidarity for the people of Palestine.

GWR Park will be full of workshops, speakers, cultural experiences, live music, and family-friendly activities on Saturday, July 20, to raise awareness of the situation in Palestine and raise money for Palestinian charities.

Visitors can enjoy cooking, embroidery, henna, and poetry, browse books about Palestine, find out more about the ongoing conflict, learn how to write their name in Arabic, meet local campaigners, and find out how they can get involved.

Youngsters can try their hand at kite-making, craft tables, a circus skills workshop, bouncy castles, and a talent competition.

British Palestinian rapper Speit will be performing alongside local bands and artists.

Those giving talks include Professor David Miller, Dr Ramzy Baroud, and Palestinian journalist Ahmed Alnaouq who lost 21 members of his family in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza.

A Swindon Palestine Solidarity spokesperson said: "This will be a wonderful day to experience Palestinian culture.

"Many people in our community have already stepped up to offer stalls, activities, music, financial support, and help setting up, but we need more people to make this a really big success."
