Nottingham Forest's summer plans are already beginning to take shape as they look ahead to a third successive season of Premier League football.

The Reds have made a start on trimming their squad with the release of six senior players at the end of their contracts. And on the subject of incomings, the club are said to be in pole position to strike a deal with free agent striker Che Adams.

Forest still have plenty more work to do, though, as they look to push on next term. With that in mind, below is a look at some of the key dates for the Reds to be mindful of in the weeks ahead.

Transfer window

The Premier League have confirmed the dates for the next two transfer windows. Both will be important ones for the Reds as they look to kick on next term.

The upcoming summer window will open on Friday, June 14. It will close on Friday, August 30 at 11pm.

The January window will open on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. It will close on Monday, February 3 at 11pm.

The Premier League have said: “To ensure harmonisation with the major leagues in Europe, the closing dates were set following discussions with the EFL, DFL, Serie A, LaLiga, and LFP, who will all close their summer and winter windows on 30 August and 3 February respectively.”

Fixture release day

Fixture release day is always eagerly anticipated by fans. For the third year running, Reds supporters will be able to look forward to putting in dates of Premier League fixtures in their diaries.

This year, the Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 season will be released at 9am on Tuesday, June 18. Dates for all 380 top-flight matches will be released at that time.

Season dates

The 2024/25 Premier League campaign will start on August 17 - 90 days after the conclusion of the current season. Next term will conclude on May 25, 2025, when all matches will kick off simultaneously.

Next season will consist of 33 weekends, four midweek rounds of matches and one Bank Holiday matchweek. Unlike in the winter just gone, there will be no mid-season break this time around.

The Premier League have said: “The mid-season break has been removed from the calendar to allow a mid-August start date for the Premier League. This longer summer break allows all Premier League clubs to be better able to ensure that players get a consecutive three-week break in the summer. This takes into account expert advice from medical and technical departments, which values a longer period of complete rest in the summer rather than a short break in the winter.

“In keeping with previous commitments made to clubs to address the congested schedule across Christmas and New Year, arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match. There will be no fixture on 24 December 2024.”
