Truck on its side after crash leaking fluid on road and causing tailbacks

A highway maintenance vehicle has overturned and appears to leaking fluid on a road near Padiham.

Lancashire Police say the 15-tonne DAF truck collided with a car on Barrowford Road, A6068, and toppled on its side at around 11.25am.

Reports at around 14.15 say the road has been closed.

Lancashire County Council, which is responsible for highway maintenance and uses similar vehicles, has said it isn't their vehicle.

Police say there were no injuries and that arrangements are being made to clear the site.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are on scene and dealing with a road traffic collision on Barrowford Road near the junction with Higham Road.

“This is causing considerable traffic build-up in the area. Please alter your route to avoid the area if possible.”
