A Bulgarian lorry driver shone a laser pen into the eyes of other drivers on a busy Spanish motorway to keep himself entertained, police said.

The 45-year-old allegedly dazzled motorists with the device while driving on the C-25 in Gurb, near Barcelona, at around midnight on July 30.

Several concerned drivers contacted police after they were distracted and temporarily blinded by the dangerous beam.

The man, who has not been named but lives in the Zaragoza area, was arrested shortly afterwards after pulling into a service station.

During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime.

And he said that he’d done it “because he wanted to keep himself entertained as he was driving,” according to ABC.

It’s not clear exactly how many drivers were affected, or what charges the trucker will face.

The arrest comes days after a teenage boy was detained in south London for allegedly shining a laser pen at a police helicopter.

The 15-year-old is accused of repeatedly shining the light at the chopper as it hovered over Sutton on July 27, according to the Evening Standard.

The helicopter was assisting in a search for a burglar. Crews later managed to pinpoint the beam to a specific address.
