Truckfest: Over 3,000 trucks to descend on Lincoln for major festival

Over 3,000 trucks will be on display in Lincoln this weekend as the major 'Truckfest' arrives in the city for the first time ever. Thousands of trucks will descend on the Lincolnshire Showground, along with some of the stars of BBC's 'Gladiators' over the May Day bank holiday weekend.

The national Truckfest event has frequently been described as the “Glastonbury for Trucks”, with over 3000 trucks taking part in competitions over the weekend. Truckers from across the country come to show off their pride and joy at the festival as they compete over the weekend.

Described as being very much "larger than life", the festival bills itself as being a "total experience for the whole family." The festival had been staged in Peterborough for the last 40 years, but is now taking place at the Lincolnshire Showground for the first time - with motorists being warned that the roads around the showground may be busy this weekend.

The stars from TV’s Hit Show ‘Gladiators’ will be there all weekend to meet their fans and give the opportunity to get a picture with your favourite warrior, you can even catch a ride on one of the Monster trucks for the "thrill of a lifetime."

The festival has found a new home after leaving Peterborough. Colin Ward, Managing Director of Truckfest told us “Since 1983 Truckfest has delivered a great day out and a fantastic family experience for the whole family.

The great news is that with its move to Lincoln, it offers even more to our visitors. It was a sad day to leave our home of 40 years behind but we are so lucky to have chosen the wonderful Lincolnshire Showground with all it has to offer us and our visitors.”

Truckfest opens its doors at 2pm on Saturday 4 of May and includes a special firework display in the early evening. Day visitors are welcome between 9am-5pm on Sunday 5 and 9am-4.30 pm on Monday 6 May. To find more information on tickets, click here.
