A TV investigator has landed in Tenerife to join the search for missing Jay Slater, having previously claimed he could get answers ‘in three days’. The hunt for the British teen has now entered its second week and Mark Williams-Thomas was confident he would be able to quickly decipher 'whether a third party was involved’.

The author, who investigated the disappearance of Nicola Bulley, announced on Sunday that he had reached out to Jay's mum Debbie Duncan to offer his services. He vowed to 'get her answers as to what happened' to the 19-year-old, who vanished on the Spanish island on Monday, June 17.

The teen, from Lancashire, was thought to have phoned his friend Lucy to tell her he was lost in a rural area and his phone battery was down to just one percent. His phone later 'pinged' in an open area around half a mile north of the Masca village.

Mark, who confirmed he'd arrived in Tenerife to begin his own investigation on Tuesday, June 25, had previously told the Manchester Evening News he would need just a matter of days to 'find out whether a third party was involved’. He said he'd 'track down' the two men, thought to be British, that Jay was said to have stayed with in an Airbnb rental the night before he disappeared.

He'd said: "I would quickly be able to do establish whether or not there are suspicious circumstances - but I'd need total access to everything and to speak to all the witnesses involved. Having feet on the ground and looking at the scenario and circumstances, I know I will get to the bottom of this in three days.

"If the family work with me, I will get them answers. It is crucial for the family. It is difficult for them, dealing with foreign police who handle it differently. But I'd need their full cooperation, I'd need to speak to every witness involved; those that he's been with since he's been on the island. Some people will be more persons of interest than others.”
