Two people have been arrested after the body of nine-year-old girl was found inside a duffel bag near an equestrian trail in Los Angeles last week.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the body found in a partially-zipped rollaway duffel bag on March 5 was Trinity Love Jones, who lived in the city.

The bag, with Trinity’s head and upper body protruding, was found by workers in the Hacienda Heights area but police initially said it could have been duped sometime between Sunday, March 5 and when it was discovered.

Police initially released a sketch of Trinity to identify her, as well as pictures of the clothing she was found in and a picture of a bag like the one she was found in.

She has since been named and the sheriff’s department said investigators had arrested two people of interest but are continuing their investigation.

CNN also reported that the sheriff’s department said: “Although the Coroner’s Office determined the death to be a homicide, the cause of death is being withheld.”

The sheriff was previously reported as saying investigators would “spare no efforts to find out what happened.”

According to CNN affiliate KTLA, Trinity’s father Antonio Jones described her as “full of character, full of life, full of joy”, saying: “Words can’t explain what I’m feeling right now. I just want answers. I just want justice.”
