Two earthquakes were recorded in Wales on the same day this week. On Monday, April 22, the two earthquakes were recorded to have struck Powys and Ceredigion with local people feeling a weak "trembling" in the vicinity of the latter.

The first, which struck at 9.37am, occurred in rural Powys near the village of Llangurig. The magnitude was recorded as 1.0 on the Richter scale, meaning a "micro" earthquake generally not felt by people.

The second happened at 10.09am and had a magnitude of 2.3, meaning it is still classified as "micro". But local reports say this earthquake was noticeable.

It occurred in Cors Caron National Nature Reserve in Ceredigion and was felt in Aberystwyth and Ystrad Meurig. Local reports described a "weak trembling" feeling, with one saying water in a bottle visibly trembled and another saying a radio aerial rattled.
