Two Iberian plumes are set to sweep the UK this month. Weather maps indicate Brits could soon be basking in the sunshine as hotter conditions seem to be on their way.

The mercury is initially set to rise this weekend, with some parts of Britain expected to see highs of 25C. According to the Met Office, Britain will warm up from tomorrow (Thursday, May 9), with conditions expected to last until May 12.

Temperatures are expected to be in the high-teens and higher than 20C in the south east of England. Rain could fall in some places but it is expected to be mainly dry and bright.

Jim Dale, of British Weather Services, said he expects conditions to be 'very pleasant' this weeend. Brits should expect this to 'continue for most parts on Friday, Saturday [and] Sunday', Express reports.

He added that some places 'might get 25C', most likely the south-east or East Anglia. A second Iberian blast is then anticipated to bring 23C heat between May 17 and 18, according to data from WX Charts and Netweather.

Highs of 23C are predicted for the south and east of England, including Peterborough, Norwich, London and Canterbury. Temperatures are predicted to be between 20C and 22C in the Midlands, as well as Cambridge, Ipswich, Brighton, Reading, Sheffield, Liverpool and Fort William.

Other areas of the UK - including Southampton, Conwy, Manchester, Hull, Newcastle, Carlisle, Derry, Belfast, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness - could see between 16C and 19C. There are predictions that coastal regions such as Plymouth, Bristol, Cardiff and Wick will see highs between 13C and 15C.

The Met Office has said of this period: "The weather is expected to be changeable across the country, with further spells of rain and showers expected. Rainfall amounts could be above average in most areas.

"It is also possible that rain will be heavy at times, and any showers could turn thunder. Temperatures are also expected to fall closer to average for May."
