Two hotels in Norfolk have scooped national attention after being named among the best coastal stays in the UK.

The Times has rounded up its 28 most stylish hotels by the beach with north Norfolk being a standout destination.

The Harper in Langham was praised for the opportunities guests have to spot wildlife.

The review said: "Dune-fringed beaches, bird-spotting and windy walks are what the north Norfolk coast is all about, and this thoroughly contemporary coastal hotel — a 10-minute drive from Blakeney Point — makes a cracking base from which to do them."

Built in a former glass-bowing factory the hotel is home to a courtyard of olive trees, rusty chimneys and festoon lighting.

The Blakeney Hotel (Image: Newsquest) The second on the list was the Blakeney Hotel, a family-run 60-room hotel which looks out over the estuary and salt marshes of the National Trust nature reserve.

Noted for giving its customers some "serious R&R" the article said: "Beloved by generations of families, smartened up without sacrificing its air of genteel civility.

"The Blakeney Hotel today feels as comfy as your favourite jumper."
