Two people to appear in court after being found with suspected stolen items

Two people were found in possession of suspected stolen items in Dorchester.

Officers from Dorchester Neighbourhood Policing Team were out on foot patrols in the town centre when staff at one of the shops informed them of two individuals who they suspected to be shoplifting.

A short time later, police stopped a man and woman who matched their description on their way to the train station.

They were both searched and found in possession of suspected stolen items.

The man and woman are due to appear in court.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said: “Officers from the Neighbourhood Team spent the majority of the day on foot patrol in the town centre.

“We were also joined by Dan and Thomas from the Special Constabulary who helped provide an extra presence.

“Whilst we were out and about, we received information from shop staff regarding two suspected shoplifters.

“A short time later a male and female who matched the description were stopped on their way to the train station. They were both searched and found in possession of suspected stolen items.

“They will both be off to Court in due course.”
