Two people taken to hospital after crash as air ambulance called

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash in Leicestershire this morning (Monday June 24), emergency services have said. Leicestershire Police said it was called to an incident in Hill Lane near Countesthorpe at 6.53am.

A spokesperson for the force said both drivers were taken to hospital with injuries that aren't believed to be life threatening or life changing after the incident at the junction with Cosby Road. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the two drivers had to be freed from their vehicles following the incident.

A fire service spokesperson said that two crews were called from Wigston and Southern stations. They also said that an air ambulance was called to the scene and that one person was treated by the air ambulance.

Hill lane was closed following the incident and the closure was further extended up to the Winchester Road junction with Cosby Road.
