Tyler reacts badly to the big confession

Tyler is stunned to learn that his mother Fay is the person who has come forward to confess to killing Hamish. Tyler is convinced she's doing it to protect him, but Fay sticks to her story, asking him to forgive her for not coming forward earlier.

Later, Tyler seeks out Mishti to tell her that they must disprove his mother's confession, even though that'd mean him being back on the hook for Hamish's murder.

Meanwhile, Xanthe defends herself after being caught with alcohol in her school bag, but Elly is forced to suspend her until an investigation has been completed. Xanthe receives another blow when Terese suspends her at work, even though Xanthe maintains her innocence. When Jimmy learns what's happened, he goes straight to Xanthe to confess and assure her that he'll put things right.

Elsewhere, Karl and Susan return from London in a grumpy mood, impatient with each other after a tension-filled holiday. Sheila picks up on the dynamic and Susan confesses over coffee: things are always tense around Izzy. She and Karl disagree over how to handle her, and it leaves Susan frustrated.
