UK set for 29C heatwave next week with North African blast roasting England

New maps show a North African plume swallowing Britain with a scorching heatwave sending temperatures up to the high-20s. A 29C heatwave, perhaps even pushing 30C, is anticipated across swathes of the nation around Friday, June 28, in a major boost to UK residents who are clamouring for a return of summer.

WX Charts shows maps and charts, which are projected using Met Desk data, burning fiery red with an upturn in conditions from the beginning of July. The Met Office forecast for June 23 to July 2 reads: "Predominantly fine and settled through the period and for much of the country turning much warmer than we have seen in recent weeks.

"At first some thicker cloud could bring some outbreaks of mostly light rain, this mainly affecting western, especially northwestern areas. However for most it will be dry throughout, and likely to turn increasingly warm as we move into next week.

"There is a chance that this could persist for much of the rest of the period, turning increasingly hot, however by mid-next week we see a large range of outcomes. some of which allow for a return of much cooler conditions and northerly winds for the latter part of next week.

"However the trend toward much warmer conditions is preferred for now." And Exacta Weather's James Madden said: "A major July heatwave or super heatwave (heat dome) is also still gaining ground and recognition from elsewhere for our exact dates!

"The CFS computer model continues to presently show a potentially major heatwave or heat dome scenario/super heatwave for the exact dates I have been repeatedly touting it for since early April." He added: "Several of the main third-party computer models are still seeing high pressure rises within their latest runs that will send temperatures soaring from very warm to very hot at times from within and around this weekend and during next week!"
