UK set to be 'swallowed' by 27C heatwave and it will last 72 hours

UK weather maps have shown the country is set to be SWALLOWED by a 27C heatwave before the end of June. A 72 hour heatwave, lasting three days, will bring an Iberian scorcher to the country with 27C heat for Brits to enjoy.

London might see mercury levels hitting a scorching 27C on Friday, June 28. Newcastle, York, and Harrogate are also set to roast warm, with highs in the mid-twenties around 25C from June 27 onwards, according to Jim Dale.

"If it comes off it looks like a short transfusion of very warm and somewhat humid weather, ahead of an approaching Atlantic frontal system. So, a southerly airstream c/o Spain and France," the British Weather Services forecaster said.

"Expect widespread 20-22C, tops of 25-26C South East England and Moray Firth region." The Met Office forecast from June 18 to June 27 reads: "It is most probable that initially fine conditions will prevail for most, with more changeable conditions with cloud and some rain being confined to the far north and northwest, temperatures will likely be close to or slightly above average.

"Although even during this time, a few daytime showers could pop up in the east. However, there is a slight chance of an alternative scenario that initially an area of cloud could edge northwestwards from Europe and bring a few days of thundery rain and fairly hot / humid conditions to the southeast.

"Into the last week of June, on balance it appears more probable that milder than average conditions will continue, with the wind from the southerly quadrant. During this time rainfall looks quite variable (some places dry others wet)."

Ahead of that, this weekend will be "often unsettled with showers or long spells of rain, some heavy and thundery on Saturday. Some sunny spells around too, more so on Sunday. Temperatures recovering to near average," the Met Office added.
