Brits might just be in for a sizzling surprise this month, as one forecast suggests temperatures could soar close to the 30C mark. The Ventusky meteorological website is showing temperatures "feeling like" they're hitting the 30C threshold in parts of southern England on June 27.

The Somerset village of Pitney, near Langport, is tipped to experience some of the highest heat levels. While the mercury is set to rise just shy of 30C in certain spots, including a sweltering 28.8C in Salisbury, the actual figures are expected to hover just below that landmark figure.

This bout of balmy weather, with readings all marginally under 30C, is predicted to sweep across south and western Wales, the West Midlands, and the northwest around 4pm. Even Inverurie in Scotland could bask in over 26C according to the latest projections. However, cooler climes are anticipated to return shortly before and after June 27, reports the Mirror.

After what's felt like a particularly nippy June for many across Britain, these summer temperatures will likely be greeted with open arms. BBC weather presenter Simon King attributed the recent cool spell to low pressure drifting over the mid-Atlantic, forecasting that highs would struggle to surpass 10C to 13C in northern and eastern regions or 14C to 17C in other areas.

King hinted that a significant shift towards summer warmth might hold off until the tail end of June, with potential signs of high pressure building up over the UK in the weeks ahead. However, Ventusky offers a more optimistic outlook for June 20-23, predicting warmer conditions across the UK with temperatures exceeding 20C, and London possibly enjoying over 23C on June 23.
