A school has been forced to temporarily close due to staffing issues. Danesfield Church of England Middle School in Williton near Taunton, contacted parents and guardians on Monday evening (July 1) about "unforeseen circumstances" surrounding key members of staff this week.

School trips have been postponed during the closure and children will expect to be home-schooled this week. Chair of trustees Andy Giles and Beacon Education interim CEO Trudy Danby say the school is expected to reopen on Monday, July 8.

In a letter signed by chair of trustees Andy Giles and Beacon Education interim CEO Trudy Danby, reads: "We write to inform you of the temporary closure of Danesfield School for the remainder of this week. Unforeseen circumstances have forced this reluctant decision due to the absence of staff in key management positions.
