The Upshaws Renewed for Final Season; Netflix Comedy Will End With ‘Proper Farewell’ in Part 7

One of Netflix’s longest-running comedies is coming to an end. The Upshaws has been renewed for a 12-episode fifth and final season (aka “Part 7”), the streamer confirmed on Friday.

Fans still have plenty of Upshaws content to enjoy before the family says goodbye, however. Season 4 (or “Part 6”) is set to debut with 10 episodes in early 2025.

Confused by all this talk of seasons and parts? Here’s a quick refresher on how this unconventional series has been rolled out over the years: Season 1 (Part 1), Season 2 (Parts 2 and 3), Season 3 (Parts 4 and 5), Season 4 (Part 6) and Season 5 (Part 7).

“Truly grateful to Netflix for giving us this season to once again bring the warmth and funny that we’re known for (and with this fifth and final — some closure) to our Upshaws family,” co-creator and executive producer Regina Hicks says in a statement.

Adds co-creator and star Wanda Sykes: “A heartfelt thanks to Netflix for letting us send off The Upshaws with this fifth and final season. We are excited to give the show and the fans a proper farewell.”

The Netflix comedy stars Mike Epps as Bennie Upshaw, a “charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess,” living in Indianapolis with his wife, their two daughters, their one son together, and the other son he fathered with another woman. Throw in a “sardonic” sister-in-law, plus the mother of Bennie’s other son, and you’ve got yourself… well, a Netflix sitcom.

In addition to Epps, the series stars Kim Fields, Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine, Jermelle Simon, Diamond Lyons, Gabrielle Dennis and Sykes.
