‘All Of Us Strangers’: Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott star in first trailer for gay romance

The first trailer has arrived for All Of Us Strangers, the forthcoming adaptation of Taichi Yamada’s 1987 psychological novel Strangers.

The forthcoming gay romance stars Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott as two lovers – a screenwriter called Adam (Scott) and Harry (Mescal).

The pair’s relationship is said to take a bizarre twist when Adam returns to his childhood home and discovers that his parents who died three decades ago – played by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell – are still very much alive.

Haigh previously directed the 2011 gay drama Weekend, while this latest project received rave reviews when it debuted at the Telluride Film Festival earlier this month.

In a five-star review, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw hailed it as “an enormously satisfying and affecting experience”.

Opening up on the film’s sex scenes, which he filmed with Mescal, Scott previously said: “Here, I really wanted to feel the subjective nature of having sex and what it feels like. The nervousness and the excitement and the physical sensation of being touched by someone else, and what that does to you.”

An official synopsis for the film states: “One night, screenwriter Adam, in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, has a chance encounter with his mysterious neighbor Harry that punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As Adam and Harry get closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where he discovers that his long-dead parents are both living and look the same age as the day they died over 30 years ago.”

It will arrive in UK cinemas on January 26.
