Vanessa Feltz 'furious' after suitor says date was like 'pulling teeth'

Vanessa Feltz admitted she was “furious” after one of her suitors on Celebs Go Dating said their date was like "pulling teeth”.

The This Morning regular is looking for love on the show after splitting from long-term partner Ben Ofoedu, and a recent instalment saw her looking bored and scrolling through her phone as she dined with a potential beau named Richard.

In the latest episode, fishmonger Richard was asked to give some feedback on the date, which ended early when Feltz walked out before the meal was finished.

And he didn’t hold back, telling the star: “It was quite hard work, there were times when I felt like I was pulling teeth just trying to start conversations.

“You shot me down every time I tried to talk about you. I think you just need to maybe open up a little bit more when you are on a date.”

Feltz admitted she was fuming after the critique, saying: “I’m trying to put a lid on it but frankly I’m absolutely furious, how bloody dare he?”

However, Richard had more to say.

“I noticed you checking your phone,” he said to Feltz.

“We are on a date, you want to be able to know that the person you are having the date with, you’ve got their attention for however long it is.

“I just thought it was a little bit unbecoming of somebody like yourself."

The TV star responded: “I would say, as her late majesty the Queen famously said, recollections may differ!”

She went on: “I’m quite surprised to be in a position whereby I’m standing here taking psychological advice from somebody in the smoked salmon business.”

Some fans of the Channel 4 show had previously said they were less than impressed with the way Feltz handled her date.

One tweeted that it was “shocking” after the scene aired, and another agreed: “At least stay and finish the food Vanessa! Super rude to just get up and leave like that.”

Feltz split from Ofoedu, who she'd been with since 2005, earlier this year and he later confessed that he’d had an affair eight years earlier.

She has said she decided to do Celebs Go Dating because she was a “rotten picker” herself.
