Activists Hold Anti-Government Protests in Santa Catarina State

Hundreds of thousands of anti-government protesters marched in cities and towns across Brazil on Sunday, March 15, as anger mounts over the rising costs of living, a faltering economy and the corruption scandal at state-run oil company Petrobras.

Many on Sunday were calling for the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff with hashtags like #ForaDilma (out Dilma) and #ForaPT. The demonstrations, which were planned weeks ahead on social media, fall just months into Rousseff’s second term.
