Attorney General Lynch: Dylann Storm Roof Indicted on 33 Counts

A federal grand jury in South Carolina indicted Dylann Storm Roof on 33 counts on Wednesday in last month’s shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. Roof will face federal hate crimes and firearms charges and state charges for murder, according to US Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

“As set forth in the indictment, several months prior to the tragic events of June 17, Roof conceived of his goal of increasing racial tensions throughout the nation and seeking retribution for perceived wrongs he believed African Americans had committed against white people," said Lynch at a press conference.
