Cameron Marks 100 Days With Education Pledge

British Prime Minister David Cameron marked 100 days since his reelection on August 15 with a pledge to allow all schools the opportunity to become academies. Academy schools are independent of local authority control, funded by the Department of Education.

Writing in The Telegraph on Saturday, Cameron said, “We want everyone to have a chance to succeed and education is the best way of ensuring that. This means schools with strong standards and discipline. It also means giving great headteachers the freedom to run their own schools with the ability to set their own curriculum and pay their staff properly. Academy schools were created to do exactly that.” Credit: YouTube/Conservatives
