Cathay Pacific Flight Attendants Stage Sit-in After Talks With Management Fail

Hundreds of members from the Cathay Pacific Airways Flight Attendants Union staged a sit-in at the Hong Kong International Airport on Tuesday, May 19, after talks with the airline over unsatisfactory staff welfare failed.

According to the local South China Morning Post, the union said the Hong Kong flag-carrier had offered employees doing the same job different pay rates, cut lunch allowance for cabin crew staying in Melbourne, and deleted a legal protection clause for staff on duty. The union warned of further actions if their demands were not met before Thursday, May 21.
