Charleston Prayer Vigil Attendees Sing 'We Shall Overcome'

Community members in Charleston, South Carolina, gathered for a prayer vigil at Morris Brown AME Church on June 18. Church leaders and politicians called for unity following a deadly shooting at Emanuel AME Church on June 17. Dylann Roof is accused of shooting and killing nine people, including State Sen. Clementa Pinckney, who was the church’s pastor.

Roof was arrested in Shelby, North Carolina, on June 18 and later appeared in court, where he waived extradition.
