Deadly Car Bomb Detonates in Southwestern Baghdad Neighborhood

At least 11 people were reported killed and dozens more injured after a car bomb detonated in the Saydiya neighborhood of southwestern Baghdad on Monday, May 2. Among those killed were Shia pilgrims who were making their way through the neighborhood to the shrine of Imam Moussa al-Kadhim, the seventh Shia Imam, for annual commemorations. Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Also on Monday, bomb blasts in the towns of Tarmiya, to the north, and Khalisa, south of Baghdad, killed three and injured several more, according to Reuters. Credit: Facebook/brothersiq
