Kenyan Students Protest Over Government Response to Garissa Attack

Hundreds of students took to the streets of downtown Nairobi on Tuesday, April 7, in a protest over last week’s Garissa massacre. The demonstrators called for the government to take action in the wake of the al-Shabab attack on Garissa University, which left 148 people dead on April 2. Many criticized the government for not doing enough to ensure security in the nation against the militant Islamist group.

A petition from students from the national student union was delivered to the office of President Uhuru Kenyatta, demanding better security for campuses across the country, according to France 24.
