Rocky Fire Jumps Highway, Spreads to 65,000 Acres

Northern California’s massive Rocky Fire spread to 65,000 acres on Tuesday, August 4, Cal Fire reported. On Monday, the blaze surprised firefighters trying to contain the wildfire when it jumped over Highway 20. The Rocky Fire has destroyed 24 residences and still threatens some 6,959 structures, according to the latest incident report.

With 22 active wildfires in California and over 10,000 firefighters working to contain them, the Rocky Fire is the largest ongoing blaze.
