Typhoon Chan-Hom Drives Huge Waves on Coast of Hachijojima Island

Typhoon Chan-Hom edged towards Japan’s southern islands on Friday, July 10. Maximum winds reached 216km/h with speeds of 162km/h near the storm’s center, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The typhoon knocked out power to 19,800 homes in Okinawa Prefecture and was expected to cross the East China Sea and hit Shanghai this weekend.
