Viewers aren't happy with the Coca Cola Christmas advert
Last night, something very exciting happen.
The countdown to Christmas officially began as the Coca Cola Christmas advert burst onto our TV screens, much to the delight of many unsuspecting viewers.
Identical to the adverts from previous years, the familiar ‘holidays are coming’ jingle plays as the huge Coca Cola trucks drive through a town, lighting up the Christmas decorations as they pass.
However, eagle-eyed Christmas fans couldn’t help but notice that one particular detail was missing, and they’re not happy.
Y’see, traditionally the advert ends with the animated Santa Claus emblazoned across the back of a truck winking at a little boy before guzzling on his Coca Cola bottle.
However, that doesn’t happy this year and people really aren’t happy:
Fuming Santa doesn't wink at the end of the Coca-Cola advert anymore! ???????????????????????????????? #Christmas

@CocaCola_GB why does Santa no longer wink? Advert has lost something when it lost the Santa Wink #bringbackthewink

The only thing wrong with the #cocacola Christmas advert is the santa doesn't wink at the end #HolidaysAreComing

But the outrage seems to be a little bit misguided as the wink has actually been missing from the ad for quite a few years now, with it being unknown why Coca Cola bosses originally decided to cut it.
Still, the most important thing here is that the advert has finally aired – so we’re using that as an excuse to dig out our festive music playlist and scoff a couple of mince pies.
