Viewers blast Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for 'faking' NTA hangover

Many had wondered if This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield would be able to present the show on Wednesday, having celebrated long into the night after their win at the National Television Awards.

The pair picked up the best Daytime show award for the 9th consecutive year last night and naturally enjoyed the booze-filled after-party.

And the pair were nowhere to be seen when the morning programme came onto viewer’s screens today. Instead, Alison Hammond sat in their place and thanked everyone for voting.

But then, right on cue, Willoughby and Schofield rolled into the studio on the back of the Hairy Biker’s motorbikes, triumphantly holding their NTA award aloft.

Taking off their leather jackets and helmets, they then thanked viewers for voting for the show, admitting that they were still hungover.

Schofield said that he was worse than Willoughby this year, asking her to read both their parts from the autocue as he seemingly struggled to hold his head upright.

But some viewers weren’t particularly amused by pair’s behaviour, with many claiming that they were faking their hangovers and even being a bit rude to the Hairy Bikers in the process.

This comes after Willoughby hinted yesterday that she would present today’s show hungover. After Schofield asked her if she remembered what it’s like to open a show in one piece, she replied: “Yeah, fast-forward 24 hours and it might not be the same situation.”

Last year, the presenters famously hosted the ITV morning show while still dressed in their NTA evening attire, claiming that they were suffering from a night of heavy drinking.
