If there is one thing that Glasgow loves it's Mexican food, and a new street food vendor is hitting all the right notes with their authentic recipes brought with them from Mexico.

Taking the city by storm with their pop-ups, street food business Gloria's is the creation of mother and daughter team Yanett Ivonne and Yanett. Originally hailing from Monclova, Coahuila in Mexico, mum Yanett Ivonne moved to the UK just under three decades ago with her husband.

Keen to bring the flavours of home to Glasgow, Yanett Ivonne set up Gloria's with her daughter and have been making waves with their culinary creations ever since, with tantalising tacos, including traditional flavours like pulled beef, homemade chorizo, and pork pulling in the food fans.

The keen cook explained: "The name Gloria came from my auntie back in Mexico, who took care of me when I was a child and taught me how to cook from the age of eight, which I am forever grateful for.

"All of our food is homemade from our tortillas to salsas, we pride our self on having homemade food that takes you back to being in Mexico.

"Mexican food to us, should be accessible to everyone with real flavours, that's why we offer so many options."

And their dishes always prove popular at their pop-ups with their authentic tacos and tamales appealing and Yanett revealing that the Al Pastor is always a best seller.

She said: "It's definitely a favourite between our Mexican and Scottish clientele. It's a pork dish marinated in achiote served with a spicy pineapple salsa."

The duo revealed that they have been blown away by the reception to their street food from all of the places they've been to so far.

They said: "We honestly didn't expect the reaction we've had. We started off as a small business at the Glasgow Comets baseball in Tollcross then we've been privileged to be invited to host pop-ups at events. We are so grateful for all the support."

The pair both currently work full-time, so have no plans (as of yet) for a more permanent spot, but confirmed they are keen to do more pop-ups and catering at events in the near future – great news for the city's Mexican food fans.

If you fancy trying them out for yourself, then you can catch them at La Bodega in Denniston (98 Bellgrove street) on Sunday, May 26 and then at the Latin Fiesta at SWG3 on June 9.
