First I had to enter Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world, which leads you to the ticket counter.

I didn't prebook, but the line moved fast. I was able to purchase a $45 ticket to access the 124th and 125th floors.

After showing my ticket, I walked down a long hallway displaying social-media posts people captioned with #BurjKhalifa.

Once my ticket was officially scanned, I walked past a replica model of the building.

Along the same hallway, there was an image of what the building looked like when level 100 of its 163 floors was built in 2007.
